Tim LENIHAN

Partner at MD Start

In the medical device industry for over 35 years, Tim Lenihan is a serial entrepreneur and a Co-Founder of MD Start, the Paris-based Medical Device Incubator.  MD Start has incubated 13 companies which have raised over 370M EUR in later-stage financing to-date.  Within the incubator, Tim served as the founding CEO of APD (acquired by Vygon, 2019) Corwave, PreCardia (acquired by Abiomed, 2021) and Limflow (acquired by Inari, 2023).

Prior to MD Start, Tim started his career with Arrow international and then founded Contract Medical International (CMI) in 2000. CMI, a contract manufacturer and developer, built a strong reputation as the “partner of the start-up” working exclusively with new companies developing products in a variety of medical device spaces. CMI was acquired by Heraeus in 2020. In 2006, he also co-founded Advanced Cardiac Therapeutics (ACT) which went on to become EPIX Therapeutics (acquired by Medtronic, 2019).

As an active angel investor and advisor to start-ups, Tim currently serves on the boards of M2 Care, CathPrint, Recross Cardio, VCD and CD Leycom.

Tim holds his bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  He is author on over 60 patents, 27 of which have been granted.
